About Deca8000
Hi. I am married and a member of the staff here at NewDuck! Just for fun, I clicked on the button to show my personality profile to the world! I am pretty good in everything but that Love and commitment category. Hmmm, I wonder what that is all about.

Ah, not all issues are created equal. The founding fathers did not choose to use the sword over every issue either, or the constitution would never have seen the final light of day. The Federalists paper are a testament to that fact.

In fact, I'll bet that is how the dialogue went during the signing of the Declaration of Independence. "Patriots, we can disagree with the King without being disagreeable" In the famous words of Patrick Henry, "give me liberty...please. But we can talk about it if there is not consensus"..

"A lady asked Dr. Franklin Well, 'Doctor what have we got a
republic or a monarchy?' -- 'A republic,' replied the Doctor,
'if you can keep it."

On the battlefield, one must fight for survival and does not have the luxury of diplomacy. In the words of Carl Von Clauswitz, war is an extention of politics by other means. I wish there was more civil discourse in our great democracy but the sould of our nation is at stake.

Thomas Jefferson once wrote ""Dependence begets subservience and venality, suffocates the germ of virtue, and prepares fit tools for the designs of ambition."

And that quote underscores my point of comtemporary liberalism. Are they the cause of all the nation's ills? No. It seems that corporate and government greed are also wearing away at the fabric. Alas, extended prosperity has lent itself to fierce apathy of our once great and noble people. And it seems, due to the feminization of America, feelings have now become more important than principle. Everyone has their share of blame, though it is apparent to me that the Left and it's ideology are the Trojan horse in which tyranny and decadence most easily find there way into the soul of America.

But to answer your question, is the sword always necessary when a feather will do? My answer is yes, the sword has now become the rule rather than the exception. In the words of John Adams "Liberty must at all hazards be supported. We have a right to it, derived from our Maker. But if we had not, our fathers have earned and bought it for us, at the expense of their ease, their estates, their pleasure, and their blood."
